Orlando ranked #1 in the U.S. for job growth
/People ask me all the time why is ORLANDO ranked #1 in the U.S. for job growth…Well I do not make things up, the numbers come directly from the U.S Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics and here are just some of the economic developments happening this year alone:
475-acres acquired by Comcast on Universal Boulevard. Comcast, Universal Orlando’s Parent Company, acquired 475-acres of prime real estate off of Universal Boulevard, proximate to International Drive, for approximately $130mm. This grows Universal Orlando Resort’s land portfolio to a new threshold and guarantees some exciting new announcements for future developments. Currently, Universal is underway on its 3rd theme park in Orlando, Volcano Bay, a waterpark that will create at least 1,700 jobs, opening Summer 2017.
ADP Expanding Headquarters to Maitland. Orange County and Maitland approved a $906,000 tax incentive package for ADP to establish their headquarters in Maitland, in return for bringing 1,600 jobs with an average salary of $48,995.
Creative Village and the UCF Downtown Campus. Creative Village totals 68-acres and will be a mixed-use development that will be anchored by a 10-story, 120,000-foot office building which is expected to rejuvenate a large part of the Parramore neighborhood and create 114 high-wage jobs. The UCF Downtown Campus will also be an anchor, expecting 7,700 students and 2,000 new jobs opening in the fall of 2018.
Expansion of Deloitte in Seminole County. Lake Mary and Seminole County agreed on a $1.02mm tax incentive in return for Deloitte to invest $24.6mm in expanding its Lake Mary operations and creating over 850 new, high-wage, full-time jobs. Combined with Deloitte’s existing 1,000 jobs, Deloitte will be one of Seminole County’s largest, single site employers.
Relocation of IAAPA to Orlando. IAAP, International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions, announced in 2016 that they would be moving their headquarters from Virginia to Orlando this year, and extend their contract with Orlando’s IAAP Expo which will generate $250 in economic impact through 2030.
That is a total of 7,700 new students and 6,264 new jobs being created with just those four economic developments. If every new employee brings one family member to the area that is 12,528 additional Orlando residents. Moral of the story: Growth is here, growth is continuing, NOW is time to invest in Orlando!
